Down by the Homestead

Hey, Birdies! Happy IMOS (International Month of Shoes)! And happy Valentine's Day!!!!!!!!

I have some depressing news. It didn't snow today. Well, it snowed, but not at my house. It snowed at my friends's houses, but not mine. And that is why I'm sad today.

So today, I wanted something to replace the snow. Something light and fluffy and airy. And I was thinking that the perfect compliment to sheer and girly, was rustic and cozy.

Old Gringo makes the coolest boots ever. I love them! The designs are amazing! And... they will work perfectly with the pure frilly, girliness I have planned for today.

And here it is!

I love polka dots. I love sheer. I love floaty things. And I love blue. In other words, I love this dress. With cowboy boots, you need something light and ethereal. Obviously, there are other ways to wear cowboy boots, but this is the look I'm going for.

It also comes in white!

And I'll throw in some more possibilities for good measure.

With neutral boots, you can pull off a whole spectrum of brights. In this case, tangerine works brilliantly. And according to this post, tangerine is big for spring. I am ecstatic. I love brights and bolds. I love every single color on that post. I love the brights (coral, citron yellow, kelly green) and the not-as-bright (pastels such as mint green). I'm kind of a fashion chameleon. Some days I want bright, colorful patterns and prints, and some days, I want to look ethereal like a Free People model. I have so many "looks" I admire, I could wear a different one every day for the rest of my life with no problems. Well, probably no problems. No promises.

I love the sheer panels! Lucky says sheer is huge for spring, and I'm so excited!

Every girl needs ruffles!

I'm loving it. But it needs a purse. I think a cross body would do the trick. In leather/tan suede or a more vibrant hue.

But I went neutral!

How fabulous is this?! I love Kate Spade!

And that concludes my western 1 part saga. Do you guys ever wear cowboy boots as fashion statements? Or are they strictly for the ranch?

Happy Hippy

Hey hey, Birdies! Happy 7th day of IMOS (International Month of Shoes)!!!

Last Saturday, I went to Free People for the first time. I love it! I don't exactly dress like that, but I did see some happy things!

So my outfit today is inspired by hippy chic and Free People.

Before I show you my outfit, I thought I'd show you what I saw.

Lots of crocheted, knit, textured stuff...

Bohemian blouses...

Floppy hats (loved them!)...

Light, neutral colors...

I saw a few t-shirts...

Lots and lots of vegan leather (true hippies)...

The shorts were very short...

And the denim very wide.

I saw lots of lace...

A little sparkle...

And plenty of flowers! This reminds me of Elizabeth Taylor's shorts!

Anyway, that's what I saw at Free People!

Since I've never done anything like this before, I'll keep it simple. Starting with the shoes...

Free People has tons of shoe options. Like these...

And these...

And these...

Yep, I had lots of considerations! In the end, I decided on the first ones, because, well, and this is a pretty simplified answer, I liked them best. I can read your mind. You're thinking, "Duh, you liked them best. Why would you choose a shoe that you didn't like?" Well, if I were choosing what to wear in the morning, I would obviously choose the ones I like best, but this is my blog. I'm not actually wearing this stuff. So I choose what I think works. There's a difference.

Anyway, back to the outfit!

A vegan leather jacket is definitely on my list of things a hippy would wear! And I would wear it too!

Oh embellishments, how I love thee! You are the perfect counterpoint to destroyed denim!

Okay, so I could go on and do jewelry, but this is my hippy look. That would take waaaaaaay too long. Just imagine bangles, bracelets, necklaces, rings, etc. But I will show you only one of the best looking (IMO) bags I've ever seen. I've been searching for something like this for, like, forever and a day (yay for Shakespeare reference!)!

I CAN'T FIND IT!!!! WHERE IS THAT BEAUTIFUL BAG?!!!???!

Apologies. But seriously, did it just fall off the face of the internet? Apparently so.

It's pretty, but not THE ONE.

Yeah, yeah. A bunch of pretty stuff. I need that beautiful bag!!!!

Deep breath. Okay, now I need a floppy hat. No hippy closet is complete without one. I don't look very good in hats, but that model does!

Wow! This is one of my more photo-heavy posts! What do you guys think of the hippy chic look? It's on my admire-from-the-sidelines looks, but I'm lusting that embellished tank!
