I Just Died.

I'm so excited. Peter Som is my favorite designer. I could post his beyond major fall collection, but I died for his spring looks!

Okay, I'll give you a second to catch your breath. So gorgeous!

And the first thing that came to mind is this cheery skirt full of flowers. It looks so unbelievably close to the skirt on the model with purple skirt.

The shirt is... surprise surprise... purple! I would do a rock a little side half tuck!

Now I need sparklies!

I'm so obsessed with bows right now. They are just beyond major especially on a long silver necklace! Major!

Every girl need larger-than-life sunnies!

I die for Peter Som. Enough said.

Plain White Tee

Ok. I have an idea. I'll go back to posting about just random fashion stuff for March. Then in April, I'll do something similar to IMOS.

Today, I'm thinking about the classic white t-shirt. It's oh so versatile, and it's also comfy. And like everything today, there are options.

The first option is the Hanes Tee from Walmart. It's made of cotton.

It's so wearable, but it's casual. If you told me to wear this, I would add casual shorts or even workout shorts.

Dare I suggest gingham? Dare I shall.

And also, I would potentially wear it with Nike Tempos, because, let's face it, I could live in them.

So that's the über casual version.

And now, here's the less casual version. This tee is linen.

It's extremely versatile, but then again, so are all white tees. I would add a little colorful skirt.

Notice they are all from Crewcuts! An XL at Crewcuts is actually really big. And are those skirts not adorable? Love!

So the next step up is really not a step up. It's like a step to the left. Parallel. My algebra teacher would be so proud of that math reference.

It's a supersoft cotton, but it has a drapiness like no other.

It looks so comfortable! And I'm loving the high-ish/low-ish hemline!

We are now entering Lilly territory. Please keep your hands and feet in the ride at all times.

I love me some Lilly! And that print is STUNNING!

And for the last one, I want to show you guys a crepe tee. It's obviously more formal, so DO NOT wear it with Tempos. It will not work. I promise.

Ok, now we can move into DVF stuff. Hold your breath. It could get crazy. Just kidding. But it will get beautiful.

Oh, happy day! I love the print master's work. It's gorgeous!

Those my three levels of plain white tees. They are so versatile, and white is so fabulous with brights. I have a gray version of the linen tissue tee. It's amazing! And don't get me started on Hanes. I love it with my Nike Tempos! How do you wear your white tees?

Welcome to the 50's!

Happy IMOS, mi amigas! And sing the title to the tune of Hairspray's Welcome to the 60's. It makes more sense that way.

Anyway, I was inspired by the 50's neon. And in case your wondering, that does MOT mean poodle skirts. Even though I did wear a poodle skirt for a dance recital a long time ago. I was inspired by neon colors, with modern shapes. With a teeny tiny hint of early 1700's casual dress. Just a smidge.

On to the shoes.

I made my goal to use less J.Crew/Madewell/Hollister/AE and never use the same store for more than one piece in my outfits. And for this look, I wanted magenta sandals with a heel. Something refined, but fun and playful. And as I scoured the internet, I found that low and behold, J.Crew has EXACTLY what I pictured!

Oh and the reason I didn't post the inspiration picture first is that I like to post the shoe first, because in this new template, some formats only show the first picture. And I want you to know what the shoe of the day is. It's International Month of Shoes. Not International Month of Inspiration. But that sounds cool.

Again, I was inspired by the COLORS. Not 50's silhouettes. Even though I love those, too.

Without further ado, the skirt.

Are you not in love with those pleats? That's the smidge of early 1700's European casual wear. They wore pleats. They were also ahead of their time.

And all it needs is a simple white drapey shirt.

It needs to be drapey. If you take a regular semi-stiff Hanes t-shirt, it just doesn't work. It needs to be a bit less casual. And silk would work well in this situation, but I wanted cotton.

For my last attempt to neon-ify this outfit, I want aqua. At first, I wanted an aqua cashmere boyfriend cardigan. Then I realized that this only exists in my fantasy land. Well, lots exist, but either the color or the fit or something was off. So I decided I'd accept a not-necessarily-cashmere cardi or a not-necessarily-boyfriend-style cardi. And I came up with nothing. It was like that color just didn't exist. So I lowered my standards. And threw blazers into the mosh pit. That's when it all came together.

Sure, the color's not perfect, and the fit isn't what I had in mind, I think it totally makes the outfit.

If you wanted to be really fancy, you could wear pearls.

So what do you guys think of my neon-inspired look? And how about those killer shoes? Am I the only one who's obsessed with the pleats on that Juicy masterpiece? I know how many people read this blog, and I know how many comment. That ratio is so off. I know you have opinions! Every human does. And probably lots of primates and dogs and such. First commenter gets an entire post inspired by/dedicated to her. Or him. So comment and tell me what you think or what your idea of the perfect outfit is. I'll definitely consider IMOS suggestions! So comment away!

Flower Girl

Hello, Birdies! Happy Friday, but most importantly, happy IMOS (International Month of Shoes)!!!

Today is sunny and clear and brisk. In other words, absolutely perfect! That inspired me to choose a shoe that looked somewhat natural, but still colorful and cheery. I wanted something that said "summer." Even though it's February. Whoops. It's summer everyday in Birdy's house!

I can smell the flowers. I love the muted violet with the espadrille! The flower is just the icing on the cake. I think these are novelty shoes. That requires novelty shorts. And I'm not above shorts with wedges. *winkwink*

And my love of polka dots continues. These are chambray, polka dotted, and J.Crew. What can I say? A girl wants what a girl wants!

For the shirt, I want something pastel and maybe floral.

Wow. That very little effort. I mean like I decided to Anthro first, and clicked some buttons and there it was. Thats a lot quicker than usual. I have a list of shoes I want to do, stores I should check, and outfit inspiration a mile long. When I know what I want, I usually check the store that has similar things or a certain style that I need. Anthropology has a lighter color palette and an ethereal feel.

And let's assume it gets chilly.

Wow. This isn't too hard. And look at the detail on the back!

Or you could get cozy in cable knits.

Or you could go in a different direction and do an open knit pullover!

And of course, you are stylish, so you're wearing a bright cami underneath, of course!

So that was my easy Friday outfit! Now I need to write Saturday's post because I don't have time to write it Friday (today's Thursday) and I got a little behind! Happy IMOS!
