Lilly Everywhere!

Usually, I try to wear items from different stores. I rarely (or never!) wear an entire outfit where everything is from solely one store, but today, I want to wear all Lilly Pulitzer.

I love this print! It's so cheery!

I would roll up the sleeves to make it more casual.

Who doesn't love bright pink pants!? I love the bright colors all combined in a delicious print stew that is the shirt. Stew analogy, anyone?

Now for the jewelry: Since the sleeves are rolled, I would wear more bracelets than usual.

I would wear those first two on one wrist. . .

. . . and to balance that, I would wear the charm bracelet and watch on the other wrist.

I like the one on the right better for this outfit because it's not as busy, but I love the one on the left, too!

Hello, tassel necklace! I love the little turquoise beads at the bottom!

Every bright, colorful, and/or slightly summery outfit needs white. Even if it's just a little, white keeps it fresh. White sunglasses accomplish that perfectly!

I love the way the colors are similar, but it's still a different pattern. I love every single Lilly iPhone case/iPad sleeve/Blackberry pouch/laptop tote that they sell!

These are exactly what this outfit needs: sparkle! Metallics are a great choice, and shoes are a fantastic choice for adding understated (as understated as metallics go!) shine!

I love this! I couldn't wear it (I don't wear heels or bangles), but it's super cute!

Lilly Pulitzer part iii

Happy Lilly Week! These are my favorite Lilly accessories:

I love scarves! This one looks so versatile! It works for winter/spring/summer/fall and day/night and the colors palette works with most colors.

Wow! The ruffles are so unexpected! I love it! It looks extremely effortless.

I love bangles! My only problem is that I have tiny tiny wrists! Even kids bangles are too big!!! They always fall off. . . sad. But that's a beautiful bangle!

I love watches! These are so cheery! The colors go with half the things I wear and they don't look as bulky as a lot of watches. I think big watches are cool, but they overwhelm my wrist.

I love the super thin bangle! And I love the pink/coral with the gold! Actually, I love pretty much everything with gold!

I love tassels! They are so pretty. IMO, every outfit needs three pieces. And a statement necklace totally counts as a third piece!

Wow! This is called the Showstopper Cuff. And rightfully so! It's definitely show-stopping! But in a pretty way!

I love this print! I wish I could carry a clutch because clutches are so pretty! But I can't because I lose things wayyy too much! I would leave it as soon as I put it down. I admire people with clutches!

The elephant is so cool! I love metallics and elephants, so naturally, I love this clutch!

Stop the press. Lilly still makes iPhone 3Gs cases!? I was so sad when they stopped making the 3Gs cases! I seriously am going to beg my mom to buy this! The sailboats are so whimsical!

My case right now is Lilly Pulitzer, and I love it! I love the colors! So happy! I didn't know iPhone cases could be happy! But they are so happy!

I love aviators. I have some begging to do!

The ginormous sunglasses look so glamorous! I don't think I could pull them off (I'm 12!), but they're stunning!

Who is already half way out the door to go to Lilly Pulitzer? I know I am!

The Lilly Story

Hopefully everyone knows that I love Lilly Pulitzer by now. I've probably spent more than a few hours at their website. It's so cool! I read the story, and I thought that it was so inspiring! So this is how Lilly Pulitzer came to be:

Lilly Pulitzer's husband, Peter, owned a citrus grove, so Lilly opened a juice stand. She needed a bright dress to hide the juice stains, so she made a vibrant shift dress.

The demand was instant when a picture of Jackie Kennedy wearing a Lilly dress was on the cover of Life Magazine. Soon, she was selling more dresses than juice. The brand took off.

Now, Lilly Pulitzer has the word "lilly" in every print. The colors are still just as bright and hide juice stains. Lilly has a team of artists who design every print in the print studio.

Wow I love Lilly Pulitzer! I think I will dub this Lilly Week! Happy Lilly Week, world!

Lilly Pulitzer part ii

Get ready because a boat-load of pictures of pretty clothes is headed straight for you full speed ahead!

I love the waist! The tassels are so cool, too. I love tassels. . . and this skirt!

Wow, I love red jeans! I've always been a bit scared of red even though today I wore a kind of off-red shirt. Anyway, I love red jeans, and this is the perfect shade!

The cheetah is so unexpected in blue and green! I love the length and the simplicity of the style.

For the third time in two days, I love the green and the navy! I also love the way it's just one big flower!

These are my favorite Lilly Pulitzer prints:

This one was inspired by ring pops. Do I need to say any more? Other than I love the color combo?

I love the dottiness! It reminds me of an impressionist's painting. It was inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

I love the colors and the tassels! This was inspired by none other than. . . tassels!

I love everything here! Does everyone else? It's all so whimsical!!! Lilly makes me happy! And the story is really cool, too!

Lilly Pulitzer part i

I walked into a Lilly Pulitzer store a few months ago and fell in love. I told my mom that I wanted my room to look like the store and that I wanted to wear it everyday. None of those actually happened, but I wish they did! I love the colors, prints, and style of pretty much everything!

I love tunics! I also love bold colors and flowers. I hope it's obvious that I love this!

The polka dots and the navy/white combo are classic. I love the ruffles and the sleeves!

I've been loving green lately. It's even better with navy. The white buttons make it crisper and I love the bows!

I love this print!I l love the colors and the way it's kinda in-a-way dotty. It looks great with those jeans!

If I wore this I could say things like Hello! I'm wearing all pink! Are you? Nope! But I am! Haha! Not really! I don't talk like that! But the outfit is cute!

I love Lilly Pulitzer prints. The fabric looks so soft, and the colors look so crisp and fresh. This is one of my favorites!

Again, I love the green with the navy! The flowers are pretty, and did anyone notice the tassel necklace? Love!

This print makes me smile. It's just an army of high heels! I like the 3/4 sleeve. It's perfect for 3/4 cardigans (Thank you, Captain Obvious!) or regular cardigans because you can't tell that the sleeves are shorter!

I'm be back with part ii tomorrow! But for now, what do y'all think about part i? Love? Really love? Want to to swim in Lilly Pulitzer?

One more thing: I saw a video on the website that showed them making a print and I finally know what I want to do when I grow up! I want to do exactly that. Click on Story of our Prints and watch them turn a blank sheet of paper into an explosion of printed greatness!

Visions of Glasses

I need glasses. Like actual prescription glasses. I found out a few weeks ago, and on Friday and Saturday I decided to go glasses shopping! We narrowed to down to two pairs:

1) We called these the Kate Spade glasses. They're tortoise and slightly cat-eye.

2) We called these the blue ones. They're blue and kinda tortoise-y.

I know which one I like best! What do y'all think? I have a face with a unique shape so it was hard to find ones that worked! Tell me what looks best in the poll!

We call these the Harry Potter ones. I'm not getting these!

Haha! Just looking at that picture makes me laugh! I wouldn't wear these with my uniform in a million years! Hello, I live in Dork City! I love geek chic, but these are too geek, not enough chic!

How To Look Effortless... Or at Least Make Getting Dressed Easier!

I've always wanted to look "effortless". Some people just have that gift. I don't. Well, every once in awhile, I'll grab some things out of my closet and hope I look great. In all reality, I rarely look amazing when I do that. But when I put some thought and effort into it, I can look effortless. The problem is that if I put effort into it, it's not effortless. But if I look effortless, it's okay, right? Good question, Birdy! Yes, but why no t train yourself to actually make it semi-effortless?

1. Everything in your closet needs to go together. Well, not everything. I like to have a small (or large) section in my closet where I keep simple(ish) tops and simple wear-with-anything shorts/skirts/pants. In my opinion, it's easier to pull things out of my Simple(ish) Clothes section if they are in rainbow order (call it what you want, but I will always call it rainbow order!). Then I can pull out a shirt and grab some shorts/skirt/pants in coordinating colors, which leads to my next point. . .

2. Things work best if they are either the same or different. Lately, whoever starts the trends has loved monochromatic and bright contrasting colors. Some days I grab a pink shirt with magenta shorts. Some days I stay in a smaller range (Think navy pants, cardigan, and tank). Other days, I wear completely contrasting outfits. For example, today I'm wearing a magenta t-shirt and navy shorts. If you pull a blue shirt, grab either blue, green, black, pink, purple, yellow, brown, gray, orange, red, or white shorts. It works if the style is on the simple side, and the colors are polar opposite or the same!

3.Shop smart. This is a very broad topic, but I think that you should know what you have and need, and you should buy things that work with your closet. If half you closet is black, buy colors that work with black. In other words, don't buy something if it doesn't work with a) your closet b) your lifestyle (i.e. don't buy stilettos if you're thirteen!) c) your budget. Branch out, but don't wear things you know you won't wear just because it's trendy or it looks good on a model. I speak from experience!

4. Be bold! It's easy (in a way effortless) to blend in, but it looks better to wear a lemon yellow skirt with a fushia blouse. Spend a little time experimenting, and it will pay off later!

5. Quality over quantity. If you have 45 shirts in your closet, but only wear 26 of them, the only thing you are doing is wasting your space. Donate them, unless they have sentimental value, which is why we have closets in guest rooms! My point is to get rid of it if it hasn't been worn in at least a year and a half, or doesn't fit right. Also, a few good pieces is better than a ton of cheap ones. If you have less, it keeps your closet cleaner, which makes it easier to get dressed in the morning.

6. Keep it simple. It's so much easier to mix-n-match if your clothes have regular patterns, or simple color palettes. I mix stripes with florals every once in awhile, and I have to be strict about my colors and patterns. If they are to busy, you'll be hard to look at, and definitely not effortless!

Wow! I always (not really!) end up with six things. I'm going to do one more because seven is my favorite number. . .

7. Trail and error: The key to success! It's one of the easiest ways to look effortless (if you're not born effortless-looking). It typically takes less than an hour to concoct multiple effortless-looking outfits. I use them as go-tos, then when I get more inspiration, I write it down, try it on, and if it works, wear it! Whew! How's that for a run-on sentence?

Those are my seven (not six!) tips for looking effortless. They work for me! I use them! What about y'all?

That Awkward Cousin Named September

I love fall! With cooler weather, dance starting, and Christmas on the horizon, I think fall is a pretty exciting time! Especially for those who have trees that are alive! I wish the leaves in Texas would change color like the leaves in New England. Leaves look so pretty in colors other than green and brown! Anyway, there is a downside: the awkward mouth or two where you know you should put away summer clothes, but it's way to hot to wear fall clothes. In Texas, we call it September! Depending on the year, it's also October. Sad, right? So I know I shouldn't be wearing cut-offs and tank tops, but it's so hot! Last week, it was still in the hundreds!!! I wish it was cool enough to wear olive green corduroy
pants. . .

Or brown ones. . .

Really any color would work. . . I would even wear red ones. . .

All from J.Crew

I'm loving corduroy this season! Also, I'm loving fall colors like burgundy, olive, and mustard. They're all missing in Texas, sadly. Oh well, at least we get to wear them! So I found some things that are appropriate for the beginning of autumn, but still cool enough for 95ยบ heat.

These are all from Forever 21. . .

I love the way they're all in fall-ish colors, but they all look breezy and not-as-hot-as-those-striking-corduroy-pants. So do y'all have that awkward cousin named September? Texans deal with it every year! Some more fashionably than others. . . :D

Oh, and for those of you who wonder why it says I posted the last post at 2 o'clock in the morning (Hi, Dad!), I just typed it the day before! I don't like to post in middle of the day, so I set it to post early in the morning. I set it for 12:07 because I thought that sounded like a good time, but nooooo. . . The computer assumes 2 o'clock is better! Haha! I guess better late than never! This should post at 4 because I set it to post at 2:37. Genius, right?
