Hello, Awesome!

Awesome is a broad term. Ex: unicorns: awesome, chocolate: awesome, fun: awesome. My point? Many things are awesome, including this magnetic nail polish. It's Nails Inc. London Magnetic Polish. A-MAZE-ING. Purely amazing.

1st step- Apply magnetic polish. Sounds simple, right? Well, yes, but first you must remove the outer             cap.

2nd step- Magnetize nails using over cap. Add a generous coat of polish, then immediately magnetize once more.

3rd step- Apply top coat. Then, the website says to marvel at your ultra-cool nails!

Here's a review I found from Eye Blink Fashion

"If any of my fellow nail polish lovers are like me and are sick of shatter and crackle polishes, then this nail polish is for you! I’ve been dying to try magnetic polish ever since I read about it a few months ago. Today the urge was so strong that I just sucked it up and ran out in the rain to my nearest Sephora to pick some up. And I’m sooo glad I did!
I bought the Nails Inc. Magnetic Polish in Trafalgar Square, which is a gray metallic with a hint of shimmer. This product is super easy to use (even for the ladies out there that don’t have a steady hand or do not have patience when it comes to nail art), and it creates an effect that ensures you get complements all day long. It’s definitely the perfect nail art. I love love love it and I can’t wait to get the Houses of Parliament shade!!"

What do y'all think? People Style Watch says it's the next big thing. I'm not sure. I love it, but it's not going to be huge.

Graffiti on my Eyes!?

I got the October issue of People Style Watch! I read the entire thing last night. Mila Kunis is so pretty. Anyway, they have an amazing eyeshadow in every issue. My favorite this month is M.A.C. Cosmetics Street Art Eyeshadow. I don't wear eyeshadow much, but I definitely know a cool-looking palette when I see one!

I like this review from Temptalia. I've never tried it, so I'm judging strictly from packaging! I'm assuming you'll appreciate a review from someone who actually used it more than me telling you how fantastic it looks! Just an assumption.

"After testing this palette, I just can’t say the quality is there. It’s the design that will sell this product; it’s more for collectors than it is for someone who is after quality eyeshadow. There are six different shades (tan, beige, periwinkle, orange, turquoise, and pink) but I was only really able to grab distinct swatches of five (the beige was difficult to get individually and then to get to show up was another story!).
The tan shade is a gold shimmered orange-tan that applies very sheerly and not as smoothly as I would like (or expect). One of the better performing shades was the periwinkle shade which is more purple than periwinkle, but it depends on the lighting; it reminded me a fair amount of Digit. Despite the appearance of intensity in the palette, the turquoise shade is incredibly sheer with a slightly roughened texture (it’s not rough or gritty, but it’s not smooth); it’s like the palest teal with silvery shimmer. The orange shade was better, as it was much more pigmented but was dusty; it’s a slightly muted orange with a subtle satiny sheen. The pink shade worked the best, as it applied smoothly and with good color payoff; it’s a yellow-toned light-medium pink with a near metallic finish. There is also a beige shade that disappears against my skin and suffers from sheerness and some powderiness.
Undeterred, I wore this on my eyes (it’s what I wore in several of the photos for the Posh Paradise Mattene lip swatches), and the fall out was incredible. I went with something short and sweet, so I used the purply-periwinkle shade on the lid with the turquoise shade in the crease. The texture is rather dry and doesn’t work well on its own (I figured I’d test it with a base on one eye, without on the other). Even with a base, I had a ton of glittery fall out and really had to pack on the color to get decent color payoff and evenness in color. I tried twice with a base – once with NARS Eyeshadow Primer Potion and the second time with MAC Nubile Paint Pot (using the pink, tan, and orange shades). The second combination had less fall out (but the shades had less shimmer) but took a fair amount of color-packing to get the vibrancy in the palette.
It’s a shame to see such a design-intensive palette perform so poorly. It really is art, because the best thing to do with it is to admire it from afar. Undoubtedly, it will still sell out because of the design alone. The good news is all of the colors go through to the bottom based on digging around each shade to see how deep it went. The only part that is an overlay is the silvered shimmer-sheen that goes across the middle.  You just can’t have problems with wear (fall out, minor fading, unevenness), pigmentation, and texture and come out on top."

Apparently, I'm not going to buy it. But I will shout it from the rooftop, it looks totally awesome.

When I do wear eyeshadow, I usually wear Pixi by Petra Winter Wakeup Eyes.

It comes in some brighter-ish colors, and I love it (especially for someone who looks weird in electric-colored eyeshadow!).

My favorite is the entire purple row. I add a just a tad, and that's all I need! Unfortunately, it's no longer available. :( But I love pixi makeup. It's definitely on my birthday wish list! BTW, my b-day is coming up! Picture me jittering in a I-can't-sit-still-longer-than-two-seconds kinda way. I love this time of year. In August, school starts (duh), so I get to catch up with my friends. September is just trying to learn how my teachers roll. October is Halloween and preparing for my b-day. And below-100ยบ weather. Let's just say I love October. Not to mention shopping. Yes, I double love October. November is my b-day, my brother's b-day (we're 4 days apart!), Thanksgiving, and then preparing for Christmas. December is chilly weather, Christmas, Christmas Break, and getting to see my family. And my dad's birthday is in December, along with New Year's Eve and some of my closest friends' b-days. Also, December wins the award for most holiday cheer. Gosh, I love fall/early winter!

A Smoothie for my Lids

Hello, my little Birdies (slight Lady Gaga influence)! I was flipping through a magazine, and I saw a lid smoothie! It's literally called Clinique Lid Smoothie Antioxidant 8 Hour Eye Color!

It claims to be "cooling" which I found fascinating. It's in the metal applicator!

I was reading The Notice and found a review:

"The shade range: Alright, so first and foremost, we’re going to talk about the shades. I have just five of the twelve shades available, but I’m 98% certain that these are not going to be the next big thing – and I’m pre-emptively blaming it all on the colour range.
Like most Clinique products, these shadows are really “tame.” That is, the colours aren’t particularly daring, and they’re all on the sheer side. They can be layered, yes, but on the whole? Nothing that’s going to stop traffic, and (let’s be honest) it’s the traffic-stopping shades that usually catch the attention of the blogosphere.
The formula: Now, this is what I think makes these shadows phenomenal. Though sheer, these Lid Smoothieswear for well over eight hours with zero smudging, fading, or creasing. They live up to their water-resistant claims and hold up perfectly in the heat, but at the same time, you don’t need elbow grease to get them off – just warm water and makeup-removing cleanser.
I can get twelve to fourteen hours (!!!) of wear out of these with minimal creasing, both on their own and with powder eyeshadow overtop. The creasing (which, weirdly enough, was way more pronounced on my left lid) didn’t appear until around the tenth hour, so these definitely get two huge thumbs-up from me.
Honestly, I can’t rave enough about these. I know they’re not going to work for everyone, but I’ve only ever found one other product (incidentally, also cream eyeshadows) that wears on my lids all day without creasing, and that’s the Ellis Faas line.
Clinique vs. Ellis Faas: If you want colour, you have to go with Ellis – their products pack a major pigment punch, and these Lid Smoothies are ridiculously sheer. However, in terms of cost, ease of use, availability, and packaging, Clinique definitely has Ellis beat!
(In case you’re looking for them, here are our review for Ellis Faas Lights and Ellis Faas Creamy Eyes.)
Bit O’ Honey used as a primer (horizontally) under powder eyeshadows (vertically) – it really picks up and locks down the colour!
Top: indirect sunlight / Bottom: flash
Packaging and application: These are being marketed as “cooling” eyeshadows, which I was worried about at first. When it comes to my sensitive eyes, “cooling” is usually code for “DANGER; look out!” The cooling’s in the packaging, though, in this case: a smooth, sleek, metal applicator. It’s something I haven’t seen before (or, really, anything like it), and so I’m giving Clinique mad props for innovation on this one ;)
The applicator does indeed feel cool in the eye area, but more importantly, it does an amazing job of blending out product - no brushes or fingers needed. You know how doe-foots are supposed to help spread products, or built-in brushes are supposed to help blend, but they never actually work? Well, this one actually works, and the metal’s not only soothing on my eyelids (great for the morning, when they’re still a little puffy!) but it spreads the product out evenly and without any tugging at all.

The verdict?

Sheer or not, I’m crazy for these Lid Smoothies. They’re easy to apply, widely available, and well-priced, but most importantly? They have incredible wear time. For a girl who’s been let down by both Urban Decay Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance, these are a godsend!
The only flaw I can think of for these is that there aren’t any super-pigmented colour options – but I’m willing to forgive and forget. Clinique’s Lid Smoothies not only make lovely washes of colour (I’ve been hooked on Born Freesia in particular), but they function fantastically as eyeshadow primers, too, intensifying colour and wearing all day (and then some) without creasing or fading."

Confession: I've never tried it! I should, because it looks so cool and I'm not really into the bold eyeshadow for ish-younger people. It just isn't pretty on my eyes, so I wear more light colors or none at all!

P.S. Aren't her pictures perfect!? I wish I owned five lid smoothies and could take spectacular pics! Jealous! :)
